Meetings
The first general membership meeting of the year will be held on Saturday,
April 10. Every effort should be made to attend this meeting which will coincide
with the association's first tournament. This will be your opportunity to elect
a member to the vacant board position and to address any issues or concerns.
Tournament Dates
This year's association tournament dates are as follows: April 10, June 12,
July 10, August 14-15, and October 9. The sign-up sheet for tournaments will be
in the Hollow's pro-shop. Be sure to check the check-in time for the tournament
when you signup.
New Rule
A new rule for tournaments was voted on and approved by the Board.
Effective with the 1st tournament, "If you sign up for a tournament and
fail to show up or call at least 1/2 hour before scheduled start time, you will
be barred from competing in the next tournament. This was instituted
because of the number of "no shows" that disrupt the tournament
formats. We understand at times there will be emergencies and there
will be an appeals process, which will be handled by the Tournament Chairman and
his committee. Our hope in this is that it will allow us to schedule
various formats that we hope will appeal to all our members.
Weekend Tee Times
Association tee times will continue this year as in the past. Please remember
tee times are for members and their occasional guest. (Please take the
opportunity to invite your guest to join the association). Be sure to sign up
for tee times no later than 6 p.m. on the Thursday before the weekend play. It
is imperative that the Hollow's staff knows how many association tee times to
reserve.
Dues
This year's dues have been increased by $5 to $85.00. This was due in
part because of the food being served after the tournaments. See the enclosed
"Application" for further information. Please mail your payment with
your application to the Treasurer, Wes Diggs, no later than March 1,
2004. If your payment has not been
received by this deadline, you will not be able to post scores for handicap
purposes in the computer. Applications renewals received after March 31, will be
assessed a $25.00 late fee.
Posting Scores
Please remember to post all scores for rounds played at home and away.
Remember, you can post scores for away rounds at most Virginia courses using the
VSGA computer. Please note! Scores obtained using non-approved USGA equipment
may not be posted for handicap purposes! Also, non-approved USGA equipment may
not be used in association tournament play.
Volunteers Needed
As usual, help will be needed with different committees. Please give some
consideration to volunteering your talents and time. Please see the committee
chairman listed above to offer your assistance.
On behalf of the membership, the board would like to express their
appreciation to Tommy Pollard, Tom Bachmann, and the Hollow's Golf Course Staff
for their support of the Men's Association. Please contact any board member with
any question, concern or comments. Thanks for your continued support, have fun,
and play well.
Respectfully,
Ray Edwards
President
