Road Course - Hole #5
This 357-yard par 4 can be played a couple of different
ways. Some prefer to bomb the driver between the sand traps on the left
and right leaving short pitch into the green. This however can bring big
numbers into the picture with out of bounds bordering the left side of
the fairway and the obvious danger of the fairway bunkers. This option
also leaves you with a delicate pitch over a deep trap in front of a
green that stays pretty firm year round. Fortunately a shot to the
center of this small green will leave a makeable putt to almost all pin
positions. Others choose an iron or fairway wood from the tee in order
to leave a full shot with more spin into the green. This takes the traps
out of play and makes it less likely that a player will go out of
bounds. Aim a little left on your approach, because missing right will
set up a difficult chip. Two safe shots on this hole will leave at least
an easy par and a good chance at birdie.
